Global Switch, the leading owner and operator of wholesale, multi-tenanted, carrier-neutral data centres in Europe and Asia-Pacific, has announced that Sprint (aka SprintLink UK Ltd), a global provider of secure and reliable wireline and wireless communication, will deploy a point of presence (POP) in Global Switch's London data centre campus, which is highly attractive to customers requiring solutions in a highly resilient, central, low latency and network dense environment.
The expansion is expected to help Sprint meet the added connectivity demands in Europe driven by the continued uptake of cloud services by enterprise clients, and enable Global Switch's customers to enjoy the widest connectivity and peering options from the data centre.
Sprint identified Global Switch's London data centre campus as a key location to expand its network presence due to fact that the campus sits at the heart of the connectivity-rich London Docklands, which is a primary business and technology hub, giving Sprint direct access to an abundance of major international and national customers and networks. With the growth of enterprise cloud computing demand in Europe, the expansion is expected to help Sprint customers securely access cloud and other premium network services across the region, as well as enable Sprint to offer additional value-added services on its network, including SIP Trunking and IP Telephony. Sprint's presence in Global Switch London will enhance diversity to the Sprint network in Europe and provide low-latency connectivity to the United States, which is crucial for its customers' mission-critical applications.
Global Switch has an internationally renowned customer base that includes financial institutions, enterprises, government organisations, global system integrators, telecommunications companies and managed service providers, who benefit from a highly resilient environment in which to locate their telecoms, internet and IT infrastructure. Global Switch's carrier neutral stance allows customers to connect to providers of choice including a host of Tier 1 carriers that utilise Global Switch London as a major network node of their own. The presence of carriers such as Sprint will ensure Global Switch customers in the data centre have direct access to a wide choice of telecoms and content distribution networks, key internet exchange points and cloud hubs.
Mark Harris, Regional Director - Sales and Marketing for EMEA, Sprint, said, "Sprint continues to enhance its network capabilities within Europe. Through expanding its facilities to include Global Switch London, Sprint remains focused on ensuring its customers continue to have direct access to data centres with the highest levels of connectivity, reliability and security. When combined with Sprint's global MPLS network, it's a powerful combination in supporting mission critical applications around the world."
Andrew Pike, Managing Director London at Global Switch said, "We are delighted to welcome Sprint to our London campus. Due to our highly resilient environment and our location close to the City of London and Canary Wharf, Global Switch continues to expand its connectivity and network offering to customers. Providers, such as Sprint, are able to serve the increasing connectivity and peering demands of their existing customers and also have access to new customers within Global Switch."
